Save your Eyesight from your PC

Posted by Edward

I know some people who like to stick to their computer much more time than anything else. But sticking too much to PC have many negative effects. One of worst is that it may harm your eyesight too much. But its effect could be reduced by a simple software known as F.lux.

Your monitor should not hurt your eyes and it should be comfortable to look at. Here F.lux is of great use. Because it can adjust brightness and contrast of your screen according to sun comes up and goes down.

After installation:

When you open its main window it shows an orange round circle on a waveform. You can click on it to have a test how your pc look when sun goes down or comes up (It'll show you how your pc screen is going to be in 24 hours of a day). There is a button named as change settings, click on that there you can adjust brightness for night time and for day time of your screen that you want f.lux to give you when sun is up and if it is down. If you are doing some color sensitive work and don't want f.lux to disturb you by changing colors then right click on toolbar icon and click on disable for one hour (also available in its main window).
One more thing I forgot to tell you that you can enter your latitude in settings so that f.lux work fine. If you do this f.lux will have correct time of sun coming up and going down in your area. But in most cases it track this itself (usually track your latitude itself). But in some countries you may have to select your latitude yourself and that is not difficult to find out. You can use google to find out latitude of your place.
You've to configure f.lux only one time and then it'll do everything itself without asking you again.

Also available to MAC, Linux and iPhone/iPad
