Index services is a little windows program that uses large amount of ram. This is used to update the lists of files that are present on your computer. This do this so that when you make a search for some file on your computer, it will search faster by scanning the index lists.
If you don't use your Windows search to find things then you should disable it to get your RAM free.

Steps to disable:

1. Open up your windows control panel
2. Click on add or remove program
3. Click on add or remove windows components
4. Uncheck it
