When we open too much things together then some of the files that are on background are cached on hard drive making ram free for active programs and default space for savings that background files is less than a GB. But sometimes PC require more memory like this. You might have seen a message in Windows XP that pop up and says something like this
- Click on Properties
Your computer is on low virtual memory. Request for new programs may be reject during this time.You can increase your virtual ram if you are getting this warning message again and again. This also increase speed of RAM.
Steps to increase virtual memory:
- Right click on My computer- Click on Properties
- In top tab Click on advanced
- Click on settings in performance box
- In top tab again click on Advanced
- Click on change in virtual memory box
- Now click on drive of which memory you want to share as Virtual memory. (You can also use USB drives and other pen drives etc).
- Click on custom size and then type amount of memory in initial size that you want to use as virtual memory
- Use a little bit greater value in Maximum size box compared to that you used in initial size box
- Click on Set >OK > OK > OK
- Now restart your Pc for changes to take effect
