Change registry settings without restarting

Posted by Edward
As you know when you change registry settings you have to restart Windows for changes to take effect. Because at that time Windows uses old settings and after restart new settings are used. So it means it is essential to restart your PC after changing any registry key.
Some may think why to change registry settings?

Because you can customise your Windows according to your taste. You can change name of start button in bottom left corner of Windows XP, you can show text notice before log on to Windows, Disable right click function on desktop, reduce or increase time to show menus, turn off beeps from inside of your pc and much more.

I have a trick for you if you are in hurry and don't want to restart your PC after changing registry settings.

How to do?

Well this is not difficult and does not harm your PC. After changing registry settings use below steps if you don't want to reboot your PC.

Open task manager:

If you want to open Windows task manager then use these shortcut:
CTRL + ALT + DELETE
or
CTRL + SHIFT + ESC

After opening this:

Go to processes tab and find explorer.exe and select it and click on End Task
Everything will vanish from your desktop or shutdown screen will pop up. Click on cancel in order to cancel shutdown. As everything is vanished means Windows explorer is closed. An error message will pop up asking to report error to Microsoft. Cancel it or report error to Microsoft. After some seconds of this Windows explorer will start again using new registry settings and now you don't need to restart your PC for changing to take effect.
