Backup files using Google Drive

If you read my blog regularly then you may know that I've posted how to use Skydrive to make backup your files for free. As I mentioned in that post that I'll posted tutorial by which you can make backup of your files on Google Drive. So here is that tutorial ...


Google drive is being used for large purposes by lot of users. You can upload your files or you can upload your complete folder for making a backup of it on Google Drive. This is also used to share files with others. You can share files with your friends or with everyone in world. You can also download Google Drive or you can configure your PC to create a Disk like other local disks in My Computer and then access your files on Google Drive locally.

When you visit Google Drive it shows link for downloading Google drive for PC as in below picture.

Things you need:

You only need an accout on google. If you are using gmail then you already registered on google.
If you are not registered:

Click here to create a free account with Google

Process:

1. If you are registered then go to Google Drive. You can go to google drive from google homepage. Just go to google.com and click on drive button as shown in picture below.

2. After successful log in to Google Drive click on upload button along with create button and then click on files that you want to upload from your PC.

3. After your click on files a window will pop-up where you can select your files you want to upload. You can upload multiple files by holding CTRL + click on files you want to select. If you have too much files and want to upload them in folder then add those files in a folder and then upload that folder by clicking on folder option as in above picture or you can create new folder and then upload your files there.

4. After you select file and start upload you'll get a notification window at right bottom of your browser's window showing you progress of file being uploaded.
5. You can see your files in my drive after upload is completed.

You can make different folders to upload different kinds of files in different folders.

Google drive is also used to host some other files that you can make online.

Examples:

Document, Presentation, Spreadsheet, Form, Drawing and some others that you can get by clicking on Get more apps.
